LIONHEARTED COUNSELLING AND EXPRESSIVE THERAPIES
LIONHEARTED COUNSELLING AND EXPRESSIVE THERAPIES
Hi there. My name is Rashidah.
I have ten years of social work experience working in a number of diverse settings such as maternity ward, youth crime prevention, infant and child mental health, and adolescent mental health at Headspace.
Since graduating from my social work degree, I have continued to develop my counselling and assessment skills.
This has included engaging in the developmental psychiatry course @Mindful that assists with assessing children, adolescents and families presenting with a variety of social, emotional, behavioural, and developmental difficulties.
I have engaged in professional development in traditional talk therapies such as Action and Commitment Therapy(ACT),
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) as well receiving education in the more creative therapeutic intervention of expressive therapies, including sandplay and sandtray.
I also supervise social work students on placement when I am not engaging in private practice.
My training has included,
-Certificate in CBT with Children and Adolescents (CBT Australia)
-ACT for depression and anxiety disorders (Russ Harris psychwire)
-DBT Comprehensive Training (CME Academy )
-Postgraduate Diploma in Therapeutic Play at Deakin University
-Certified Sandplay training and continuing to be supervised under 3 international sandplay trainers
-EMDR Level 1 and EMDR 2 (children and adolescents) training
Outside of work, I love music, art, film, books and spending time with my family and friends. I also have a soft spot for vanilla milkshakes and marzipan.
I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AMHSW). AMHSWs are recognised providers with Medicare Australia and other programs, delivering clinical social work services in mental health settings and utilising a range of evidence-based strategies in their counselling. My provider number is 6300965A.
You might refer a child or adolescent in relation to school refusal, social and generalised anxiety, grief and loss, emotional dysregulation, depressive symptoms, trauma, and with presentations such as ASD and ADHD. At this point in time I am unable to accept referrals for eating disorders, forensic issues or gender dysphoria.
This is not a service for acute mental health presentations.
If you have major concerns about someone's mental health, please call the Grampians Area Mental Health Service, Access and Triage Team on 1300 247 647. In an emergency contact 000.
LHC's vision is to provide accessible and affordable mental health counselling for children aged four and upwards utilising developmentally appropriate and evidenced based therapeutic modalities inclusive of play therapy, CBT and ACT.
LHC core values include collaboration, continuous learning and creativity.
A child or adolescent does not live in isolation and is connected to family/carers, school and other networks. Collaboration with the child/adolescents network is imperative to gain the best outcomes in mental health and wellbeing.
LHC is dedicated to continuous learning in various therapeutic modalities to assist in the improvement of child and adolescent mental health.
Creativity is the last core value at LHC. It is the process of having original and innovative therapeutic ideas and being open minded and flexible throughout the therapeutic journey.
